February 2008 Workshop

The first meeting of the year was a well-attended workshop night. Summer is a good time to work on Figs and many were defoliated, having been repotted last February.

Members arrived early to start work on their trees.

The Committee was in full swing. Glenys and Ian
helped members renew their membership.

Vencel runs our sales table and members eagerly restocked after the holiday break.

Michael is our Librarian again this year.

Many prizes were available in our monthly Raffle.

For several years, Jon from Mastersharp has
come to sharpen our members' bonsai tools.
Hi, Jon!

As usual, our members brought along beautiful bonsai for the display table.

Ian opened the night in the absence of our fearless leader, David, before heading off to run the Beginners' Workshop.

Our Beginners' Workshop takes a small class through bonsai basics...

... and gives hands on experience styling a Juniper under Ian's supervision.

Overall, the workshop nights are about our members styling their bonsai.

Our most experienced members can offer advice.

Tony created deadwood on his Penjing.

Bronwyn characterised this pruning as a haircut.

Having been repotted last Feb, this fig was defoliated.

Ray's production line of defoliation. Model cleanliness. :)

The tool pouches from the AABC convention were displayed proudly. Excellent memento, Glenys!

And the raffle winners were extremely happy!

Next workshop, we ask that members help clean up.
Many hands make light work.
