The Annual General Meeting of Bonsai Northwest was held this month with the election of office bearers as well as the awarding of prizes. We had members talk about some of their trees which was followed by our delicious Christmas supper which everyone thoroughly enjoyed.
David, Glenys and Ted ran the AGM. Over 70 members were in attendance. Brad Smith took over the chair and had very kind and positive words to say about our club. Grant Bowie spoke about the National Bonsai Collection in Canberra. Brad Smith donated to the National Bonsai Collection, on behalf of Bonsai Northwest, his coastal tea tree that has been part of the club for over 33 years. Thank you so much Brad. President of Bonsai Northwest, David, talked about his mugo pine he started 5 years ago from $35 nursery stock. Peter talked about his Swamp Cypress group he has put together over a few years. Quentin showed us a small leaf ficus that he is trying to grow as exposed root style. Ted Poynton showed off his beautiful azaleas. Ted Marks won the Ron Anderson award this year. Peter received a Certificate of Thanks for all his great work around the club. Ian Barnes also received a Certificate of Thanks for his fantastic 5 years as librarian. It was then time for our delicious supper. Brian and Ted enjoyed the food. Ron and Peter couldn't get enough!!! Glenys has done an amazing job and is the glue that holds Bonsai Northwest together. Thank you Glenys for your incredible efforts throughout the year and for your delicious cakes!!! Max Lehey donated cuttings of corky bark elms and ficus to newer members of the club. Eventually the huge amount of food was consumed.
