June 2005 Demonstration

David Allen from Bendigo showed us how collected material which, at first glance, doesn't have much potential, can be transformed into a very nice tree. Lots of wire, bending and imagination transformed this unwanted tree into a very desirable tree. Thanks to David Allen for a great demonstration. The Yarraville club provided us with a great place to hold our meetings.

David Allen.

This common Plum tree was collected a few years ago and didn't sell at the Sales table at our Show.

A sketch was made of the future David has imagined for this tree.

David intends to create new nebari (root spread) by air layering.

Showing us where the new nebari will be.

Lots of wire and heavy bending.

We all heard several branches snap under the heavy wiring.

Almost finished.

Excellent result and very close to what he had sketched.

David talked about his other collected trees. He loves to work with collected trees.

The crazy filbert on the left was formed from the root base of the one on the right from an air layer.
