November 2000 - Club members talk about their trees

&

John Holbrook tells us all about Pines.

Barry shows a group of Maples put together from seedlings.

He was able to sell the other seedlings from the original bundle.

Over 50 members and visitors were present

6 visitors came along as a flow on from our Spring Show

Barry talked about the simplicity of growing root over rock.

Lola showed how easy it was to grow Ash trees from seedlings found in the garden

John Holbrook took the stage and talked about the many aspects of Pines. Needle differences on Thunbergii.

Grow them in the ground first is John's motto. But DON'T let them get away from you. Continual selective pruning. This tree was developed in 5 years.

As usual, demonstrators spend more time talking afterwards than they do in the demonstration!

Plenty of onlookers afterwards.

Pines seemed to enthuse the men...

A couple of trees from the display table

More display table trees

A lovely little Trident maple - root over rock style.

Beautifully grown miniature Maple. Multiple trunks

Another superb mini

Just three inches high.

Even the miniature Black Pines were well grown
