Paul & Man prepare their Black Pine for some
drastic bending
With wire, raffia, tape and heavier wire, it's
easier for 2 people.
Firstly, electrical tape is wound around the
trunk to protect the pines bark. Raffia is then applied
along the length of the trunk. This is held in place with
fine wire.
The crowd of 43 were fascinated with this real
'hands on' demonstration.
After the raffia is held in place, heavy
aluminium wire is wrapped around the trunk at 45 degree
angles.
Depending on the thihickness of the trunk, up to
10 strands of wire are wrapped tightly around the
trunk.
The final bend, and no breaking! The wires will
stay in place for a year or so.

Paul & Man brought along this lovely Pine for
the Display Table
The Display table also sported this small Trident
Maple root over rock.
Suiseki and a small Saikei sat happily with our
posters for our show.

John's tree had a striking jin, bleached and
preserved.
