Over 50 people turned out to see Max Baker
present a demonstration on pots at our June meeting.
|
Max was last at our meeting a couple of years ago
when we were at Sunshine. His broad knowledge of pots and
clays coupled with his love for Bonsai, make him a wonderful
guest. And we were not disappointed!
|
|
|
|
Max brought along several examples of his
finished work. He also talked about glazing, firing and the
different methods you can use to make pots for
yourself.
|
He is a devout believer in the theory that
something is nicer if it's created by your own hands. He
likened this theory to a bought Christmas Card as opposed to
a nice handwritten note. Bonsai pots are the same. Creating
something from "Mud" and turning it into a beautiful
container for one of your beloved Bonsai is very
rewarding.

|
Max's passion for pots is catching and I'm sure
many people went home inspired to create their own little
containers.
|
Max bought along some beautiful pots to show and
these were quickly snapped up by our eager audience. We
managed to grab a beautiful crackle glaze pot for our raffle
that evening which was also highly sought
after.

There were many lovely pots on show, from
unglazed browns and greens, right through to magnificent
crackle glaze dragon pots. I believe one of our members was
able to talk Max into parting with his beautiful Dragon Pot!
Lucky member. Once again, a fantastic night from Max
Baker!

Paul's Desert Ash with it's corky bark was
impressive on the display table.

|
Lola's Trident Maple was tall and elegant with
its Winter Coat.
|
Rosemary & Geoff do a great job on our sales
table each month. What would we do without devoted members
like these two?
